Method & assumptions

Calculate percent error, absolute error and relative error between a measured value and the accepted or theoretical value.

% error = |measured − accepted| ÷ |accepted| × 100

Worked example

Measured (experimental) value: 9.62
Accepted (theoretical) value: 9.81

→ Percent error: 1.9368 %
→ Signed percent error: -1.9368 %
→ Absolute error: 0.19
→ Relative error: 0.019368

Limits & important notes
